Toasty holiday greetings from Florida
For those of you from the snowy north who are still trying to adjust to the warm reality of Christmas in Florida, here's a video of writer Roy Peter Clark performing a song he wrote 25 years ago called "Christmas Without Snow."
We thought it'd be even more warm and fuzzy - emphasis on warm - by adding some Florida Christmas scenes. Go ahead, be cruel and send this link to friends and relatives up north.

Cute!

Oh, boy. Am I going to make some relatives unhappy!!! Cannot wait! This is even better then calling them when they are bundled up under blankets and I'm sitting here with the windows open! Thank you so much for this. And if they come down here to punch my lights out, I won't blame it on you.
HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRIST-FILLED CHRISTMAS!!!

An amazing writer and you’re a talented musician and singer. What great entertainment. Merry Christmas.

BOOH Yah!! Bravo my good man, this is better than the Florida themed Christmas cards I always send. Thanks!

Roy, how nice to see you performing this funny song.
I will forward it to all my friends from Scandinavia to Patagonia.
You bring a smile to my face. God knows I needed that!
HUgs, amigo.
Merry Christmas to all the Clarks.....

Roy, you make me proud to be your bother-in-law. By the way we HAVE snow.

What a funny video, I'm still laughing. I had heard you play the piano before, but I had no idea what a talented singer and songwriter you were. What I wonder is how many times you had to perform that song before you got a clean tape without you or the camera person cracking up? And, yeah, I sang along at the end when you said to. Thanks for that crazy video. And I'm glad you got to hold your new book in your hands before Christmas. Merry, merry to you and yours.

Roy,
I've lived in SE Asia since '94. First Brunei (where one year they outlawed Christmas) and now Thailand.
I SO know the palm trees and coconuts during the 'winter' time theme.
I enjoy the warmth. The only downside is not being able to get a pine tree.
Christmas without the smell of pine? Rough.

Don't want to make any Northerners feel sad, but I'm headed for the golf course this afternoon. Temperature about 75 degrees. Beautiful breeze. I expect to see Santa out there in his Bermude shorts. He's the only one allowed on the course to use a flying sleigh instead of a standard cart. A printed version of Christmas Without Snow is scheduled for publication in the St. Pete Times this Saturday. Cheers, and thanks. -- rpc

Of course as soon as I saw the article in the Saturday edition of the St. Pete Times I went directly to my computer to send this to all my friends and relatives up north. We never miss an opportunity to let them know how sunny it is here while they are looking out the window at the "gray landscape" !! We hope everyone has a blessed Christmas.

Absolutely wonderful! As a native of St. Pete, I thank you for your wonderful "Christmas Without Snow"! Thanks.

This is great! I'm immediately sending it to all of my snowed-in sister, neices, aunts, uncles....I'll bet I get a lot of phone calls.

I would love to see this video but all I get is about three words and then it stops --I guess to load more. It would take forever to see it all--and it little bits. What am I doing wrong?

Loved it. Makes me feel better here in Florida even though I wish I was up North with my grandchildren.

I loved this. I'm sitting in my camper in S. Birmingham, AL where it's colder than a cast iron commode in the Klondike just dreaming of when I'll be back home...will I last a week? I just saw a lizard stowaway looking out at the foreign terrain...will he last a week? I wish the kids would get smart and move south where there's NO SNOW !

I cannot get this to play on the Tampa Bay site.

Phyllis and Kazmer. Do you have enough ram on your computer? I would think that you would need 1GB of Ram. Also do you have Flash Player from Adobe installed? You need version 9.something anyway. Hope you have these 2 items.

I'm sorry: I don't miss the snow or ice or bitterly cold winds. My family and friends back home always want me to be sad at Christmastime and I just can't do it. Heheh.

Andrew,
It was very kind of you to answer with the technical advise... but do you think they speak geek? Quite a long-shot. A terrific effort, at any rate.
Roy: I have seen the Elvis, and he is us... well, you really. See you in church.

Do any of you sun worshipers ever think that there are some people who really enjoy snow and wouldn't trade it for the hot, humid, buggy Florida sun.

As I acknowledge those who love the winter wonderlands of our great nation -- and I do so with a tear in my eye at the memory of childhood holidays, hot cocoa and snow days -- you have to know I'm sitting barefoot with the a/c on, expecting a high of 81° today, and the kids are mini-golfing with their dad. It's nice to visit the family for the hols, and we wish you all (north, south, east and west) the very happiest of new years ... but we're good not travelling this year. :)
