Man pawns rented backhoe
Manatee County sheriff’s officials are looking for a man they say pawned a $15,000 backhoe he had rented from a Bradenton business, BradentonHerald.com reports.
Adam T. Arena, 35, who is wanted on a warrant charging him with grand theft and dealing in stolen property, also is a suspect in other similar thefts in the state, the sheriff’s office said.
When the backhoe wasn’t returned when it was due, the owner reported to the sheriff’s office that it had been stolen.
The report triggered a tracking device on the backhoe, and officials were able to trace it to a pawnshop in Ruskin. Investigators learned that Arena had pawned the backhoe for $4,000, according to sheriff’s report.

If the pawn broker didn't demand proof of ownership,
the police had better check the rest of his inventory,
it sounds like complicity.
I wonder how much he will give me for the Skyway Bridge?

What did you expect from the Pawn Shop? To be honest and check to see if it was stolen when they could have made a quick buck if they could have moved it out of State quicker and made a nice profit..

PC...rarely do pawn shops ask you for proof of ownership. If it has a serial number on it, they'll take it

Section 539 of the Fl statues establishes procedures for EVERY pawn shop. Owning a pawnshop is very difficult and there are bad guys in every industry (try wall street). Unless you know something as a fact try not to denigrate an entire industry. There are more pawn shops than McDonald's and Starbucks combined!
