Police: Well-traveled con man takes Tampa woman for $115,000 in Super Bowl tickets

Coelho ST. PETERSBURG — Unpaid debts. Broken promises. Criminal charges.

Authorities say Thomas Coelho, a 40-year-old St. Petersburg ticket broker, has left behind a trail of legal and financial carnage in five states.

His latest mess, police say, is right here in Tampa Bay.

Coelho was arrested Thursday on a charge of scheming to defraud, accused of agreeing to sell $115,000 worth of Super Bowl XLIII tickets for a Tampa woman.

Rosy Conto, 55, said he never paid her a cent — but he did bounce two $30,000 checks.

"The guy is a liar," she said. "You can't believe a word he says."

Yes, Tampa Bay is a mess, it's also a body of water. If you are going to refer to the tri-city area(Tampa, StPete, Clearwater) you would refer to it as the Tampa Bay Area-NOT Tampa Bay.
