To a politician, threat seemed real
The call to Fort Myers City Council member Warren Wright sounded like it came from a witch. It said, “You’re going to die in seven days (laughter). Bye-bye, see you in seven days, sweetheart.”
So Wright went to the police, and one of his assistants provided the caller’s number, news-press.com reports. That number belonged to Good Wheels, a transportation service for the disabled. And the driver who was assigned that number was suspended (though she didn’t lose any pay, in part because Good Wheels president said he didn’t believe she made the call).
But then police checked the call themselves, and learned that the number Wright’s office provided was off by one digit.
Then it was easy to find the culprit — an 9-year-old boy who thought he was making a prank call to a friend. Once again, the number was off by one digit.
