Guy accidentally shoots self in rear
A Fort Myers man accidentally shot himself in the rear end, news-press.com reports.
Timothy Allen Davis, 22, told investigators that when he pulled a shirt out of a drawer, his .380 semiautomatic handgun flipped in the air, landed and fired.
He didn’t know he had been hit. When he went to his sister to tell her everything was okay, she noticed blood coming out of his pants.

Good thing he (obviously) turned around or he may have lost his family jewels! LOL

That's one sorely abused pistol if it goes off like that. Not using a safety, even? Lucky idiot.

Self Defense

And banning guns from citizens is going to get rid of the guns that criminals are using howww? As far as accidents go... accidents happen with everything...cars, machinery, etc.
Criminals already use unregistered guns when guns are required to be registered (aka not following the gun laws). So banning them would, in effect, just get rid of the guns the lawful people have.
Whether people 'need' guns, they are here, and banning them wont get rid of em.

I saw a t-shirt the other night.
If you believe guns kill people, you also believe:
Pencils misspell words
Cars make people drive drunk
and
Spoons made Rosie O'donnall fat
That's funny, I don't care who you are.

Judy....Please....If you're going to make a "stupid man" comment try to be smarter than he is...And take another gun class
His .380 is a semi auto, not a revolver...There is no "first chamber"

OK...I'll bust myself on that one...He just shouldn't have chambered the first round

Let us never take away the right of a man to shoot himself in the butt. Aaahhh this is too funny. Until someone finds a way to protect my family from criminals with guns, take your tree hugging, gun hating comment somewhere else!

There's absolutely no reason for anyone to have a gun in this country at all. Law enforcement should be the only one's with guns. All of them should be outlawed and taken away from criminals and citizens alike. Use of them as a deterrent has not been proven to reduce or prevent crime at all, ever.

Hooray for guns! Seriously, accidents happen. This guy got lucky, and will undoubtedly learn from his mistake. Do we take cars away from everyone just because someone loses control and crashes? It doesn't seem like this guy didn't know what he was doing, seems as though it was simply an accident. I don't own a gun, but I'm all for them.

In rural areas in the USA, guns are essential for protecting yourself, your family, and your animals from wild animals and people.
I know one family that lives in a rural area. After calling 9-1-1, it would take the county sheriff 45 minutes to get to the family, longer if the sheriff gets lost in the back roads.

@Marc
Criminals are not typically permitted to possess guns however a quick scan of any news outlet will reveal they do. Go figure that criminals would fail to obey the law! There are numerous laws already on the books to preclude this behavior and simply stating that "All of them should be outlawed and taken away from criminals..." is naive in the best case.
In fact the FBI publishes violent crime data collected from state law enforcement agencies annually indicating "Justifiable Homicides By Police" occurred about 5 times more often in non-RTC states (RTC=Right To Carry) and that "Police officers in non-RTC states had to defend their lives from violent criminals nearly three times as often as officers in RTC states." Sounds like crime prevention to me...
A plethora of studies support the fact that law-abiding citizens, properly trained and armed do have an effect in the reduction of violent crime while virtually no study cites a statistically significant increase in gun crime by these same citizens.
Basically those individuals that obey the law tend to continue to do so while criminals tend to ignore the law and prey on the weak (read that "unarmed") regardless of the access to firearms.
No intent to belittle or "flame" though gut/emotional response to complex issues have historically proven to further complicate the issue while offering no resolution.
Unfortunately this is nothing new as (if I recall) it was Thomas Jefferson who said; "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes."

>>Use of them as a deterrent has

>>prevent crime at all, ever.
Then why do the cities with really strict gun laws (Wash. DC, NYC) have much higher murder rates per capita the cities with looser gun control laws (Huston, Dalas)?
