Bag of decaptitated animals found outside Sheriff's Office

A bag containing headless animals and pocket change found outside the Indian River County Sheriff's Office may have been someone's attempt to place a curse on the Sheriff's employees, according to investigators.  TCPalm reports that someone found a black bag outside the office on the morning of February 13.  Inside the bag were a white baby goat and a brown chicken, both decapitated. Deputies found a quarter, a nickel and four pennies on the goat's belly.  Tags with numbers and the date Nov. 11, 1996 were found on the ears of the goat's severed head, according to the police report.  The investigation continues.

Crack pipe found in crack

A Palm City woman arrested on an auto burglary charge remains incarcerated after a corrections deputy found a glass crack pipe between her buttocks during processing at the Indian River County Jail on Saturday.  The Palm Beach Post reports that a resident discovered 38-year old Evelyn E. Russo in his girlfriend's car.  Russo asked the man for money for a ride, police said, but he told her to leave.  After she was gone, he noticed about $2 in change missing from the car.

According to the arrest report, a deputy subsequently caught up with Russo, who had managed to hitch a ride with a passing motorist.  During the booking process at the jail, a deputy said, she denied having any drugs or paraphernalia on her.  However, the deputy discovered the crack pipe during a search, according to the arrest report.  Russo was charged with introducing contraband into a detention facility as well as auto burglary.  (Photo:  Indian River County Sheriff's Office)

Well, contact the Vero Beach Police Department before it's too late.  At 0-dark-30 Thursday, according to TC Palm, Indian River County Sheriff's deputies summoned Vero Beach P.D.'s animal control officer to come collect a ginormous snake from Old Dixie Highway.  Bruce Dangerfield, the animal control officer, identified it as a 10-foot red-tailed boa constrictor.  "There is a real problem here with having them as pets," he told the newspaper. "They can kill someone's cat or dog very easily."

Nevertheless, Dangerfield said he would hold the snake for five days.  If no one claims it, he said, he will try to find it a home, but if he can't, it will have to be euthanized.
