Bikini Bicyclist charged with disorderly conduct for exposing self

The Bikini Bicyclist — the large, middle-aged, mostly hairless man who rides a fat-tired bike along Tallahassee streets while wearing a headband, a good-luck medallion and a spectacularly tiny thong — may have pushed the boundaries a bit too far.

The Tallahassee Democrat is reporting that Richard Irby, 55, known around the state capital as "Speedo Man,'' has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct for exposing himself in three different instances. Irby was booked into the Leon County Jail at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Paradise Lakes Resort's racy ad creates rift with national nudist organization

LAND O'LAKES — In an advertisement for Paradise Lakes Resort's upcoming Miss G-String International pageant, an apparently nude blond model suggestively straddles a motorcycle.

The clothing-optional resort's ad says "25 gorgeous contestants" will compete in the October event, which will be hosted by a Penthouse cover model.

The advertisement didn't sit well with the American Association for Nude Recreation, which suspended Paradise Lakes' membership Friday, saying the resort's marketing activities "sexualized the nudist experience."

Two naked people come ashore at Fort De Soto

An Oldsmar woman who told authorities she had fallen from a boat off Fort De Soto was rescued from the Gulf of Mexico Saturday night, authorities said. Clare Louis, 39, was spotted several hundred feet offshore at about 3 a.m., after Park Supervisor Jim Wilson heard her cries for help. Half an hour earlier, Russell Hernandez, 37, of Lakeland, who was on the boat with Louis, came ashore by himself near Gulf Pier. Hernandez called 911 from a borrowed cellphone on the pier, prompting a search party, officials said. Hernandez said Louis fell overboard at about 11 p.m. He said he dove in after her but could not find her and swam ashore. "They had a lot of luck," said Wilson said the pair were lucky, considering that the gulf if full of bull sharks because of tarpon season. Both Louis and Hernandez were found naked; they told authorities they stripped off their clothes to be able to swim. Both refused medical treatment.

Don't forget the sunscreen...lots and lots of sunscreen

The Guinness World Records people apparently have created a new category for "the largest number of people simultaneously skinny-dipping," according to the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR).  You kind of know where this is going, so the overly sensitive are advised to use the back button on their browsers.

According to its press release, "AANR plans to coordinate skinny-dipping events at participating clubs and legally-sanctioned nude beaches throughout North America on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 3:00 pm Eastern Nudist Time, as an exciting finale to Nude Recreation Week (July 5-11, 2009)."  (Who knew?)  Due to its balmy climate, of course, Florida is well represented, according to the list of clubs and resorts in the press release.

Naked woman knocks on door, asks for cigarettes

A Clearwater woman looking for cigarettes needed more than a smoke, police say.

She needed some clothes.

Monica L. Wood, 52, was arrested early today and faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct.

According to Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies, Wood knocked on a person’s door late during the night while in the nude to ask for cigarettes. Deputies said they later found the suspect walking through a nearby mobile home park wearing only boxer shorts.

Wood was arrested at 2:35 a.m. in the 2400 block of Gulf to Bay Blvd. Her bail was set at $250.

Wood was released shortly after noon today.

Disney parks stop scans for topless riders

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Disney says it will no longer scan riders on Splash Mountain and three other rides for guests who feel the need to flash their breasts for souvenir photos.

Disney confirmed Tuesday that it has reassigned employees at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure who watched for breast-baring riders because "actual inappropriate behaviors by guests are rare."

Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the changes took effect Sunday at Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and California Screamin'.

Riders are photographed on the attractions and can then buy souvenir copies. Some have exposed their breasts in hopes that the picture would make it onto a photo preview screen at the ride's exit.

The company began the screening about 10 years ago.

Nude dude ranch opens in Brooksville without county permission

BROOKSVILLE — Tim Clements was excited about getting his new business up and running.

Several weeks ago, he put up an impressive sign on the gate of his 10-acre horse farm on remote Hampstead Drive, tucked away in a pastoral setting in southeast Hernando not far from the Pasco County line.

He named the business the CJ Dude Ranch, combining his last name and that of David Jennings, co-owner of the property. "I just named it for us two dudes,'' he said. "Two guys on a farm with horses.''

Clements put the finishing touches on a new Web site, cjduderanch.com, that features scenic shots of his property and photos of his many pets.

He then set out a price list for the new bed-and-breakfast he was offering to visitors, a luxury bedroom suite built from a converted two-car garage.

The Dude Ranch is unique in another way: It is clothing optional.

With one exception, that is. Visitors "must wear pants and boots to ride the horses,'' the Web site states.

Retiree accused of molesting 10-year-old girl at nudist resort

Wieland Irle, a 68-year-old retiree living at a nudist resort, was arrested March 7 on allegations he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl.

The girl told detectives with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office that Irle has been a friend of her family for four years. While being questioned by authorities, Irle admitted to the abuse -- which included oral sex, according to his arrest report.

Irle lives at Paradise Lakes Resort, a 72-acre clothing optional community just north of Tampa. He is charged with sexual battery and was released the day after he was arrested on $25,000 bail. According to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement records search, this has been his only arrest in Florida.

See hundreds of nudists free this weekend

Those looking for something cheap/free/unusual to do may want to check out the 21st annual Mid-Winter Naturist Festival at Sunsport Gardens Family Naturist Resort, which continues through February 17 in Loxahatchee.  There's something for everyone here among 240 activities (PDF; 406 KB) that include workshops, day trips and -- vitally -- skin cancer checkups.  And don't hesitate to bring the kids; there'a full slate of activities (PDF; 61 KB) for them as well.  You can pack light, as everything takes place in the nude.

Or not.  You don't have to be a nudist (or spend money) to participate, as the festival is free and open to the clothes-wearing public, according to CBS12.com.

More problems for Lingerie Bowl

More problems have hit the Lingerie Bowl. Some players have quit the team over a pay dispute and because they object to holding the game at a nudist resort, said Lingerie Bowl quarterback Reby Sky of Temple Terrace and an agent who represents some Tampa Breeze players.

"I don't have anything against the lifestyle," Sky said, referring to the shift to a nudist resort. "But we as players were having a hard enough time dealing with and defending against the negative stigmas and stereotypes associated with the sport and playing attire before it was announced that we would be playing at a nudist resort."

The problems are the latest to hit the Lingerie Football League, which is run by Horizon Productions of Los Angeles. The Jan. 31 Lingerie Bowl VI, which is to air on pay-per-view during the Super Bowl halftime, was originally to be held on a vacant lot in West Tampa, but neighbors objected. Tampa City Council members also disapproved, saying organizers hadn't obtained proper insurance and permits.

Rumors swirled that the Lingerie Bowl might not happen, but Horizon Productions found a new home for the game at the Caliente clothing-optional resort in Pasco County.

Some players apparently bristled at the idea.
