This book was fantastic. It made me remember how hard it is for some people in America, like the transfer to the country. I remembered that some people have to make money in any way possible to support your family. I loved it when Michael nailed that kid all the way from the field.

I absolutley LOVED this book. the plot made me beg for more and the characters were sooooooo realistic. I especially liked the part when Michael got El Grande's attention by singing Misifuz the cat. I also liked when he and Manny found out Ellie was El Grande's daughter. WHAT AN AWESOME BOOK!!!!!

I liked the book. It was cool when Michael pegged that kid but my favorite character really was Manny. He was funny. Michael really had a hard time in life when his dad dies and he gets kicked off the team but he lived it. He must be really be good to live it.

I think that the book heat is very interesting and it was really cool how it talks about New York. I think it was sad that Michael's dad died and how he told the woman to keep Michael and his brother Carlos together. It was really amazing of the journey that Michael went through during the story.

Heat had really unexpected twists and turns. It's a great book to read, especially if your a baseball fan. It was really sad too read about Michael dealing with his dad situation but in the end, everything turned out great. I really loved this book and I'd reccomend it to everyone.

We've have some serious heat going on! In this suspencful fiction book, Miguel (Micheal) Arroyo has an awesome fireball arm. With it, Micheal is throwing 80mile-an-hour fastballs. With his pitching on a little-league team, Micheal likes to escape the problems of reality through baseball. Ever since his dad died, his brother, Carlos (17) must take upon himself new and demanding responsibilities. However, Micheal's little world comes crashing down and things are getting very complicated. What is Micheal going to do?!

Ashlyn

I loved this book Mike is just a natural good writer. I guess writer by birth, they all say. I love when Micheal and Ellie are falling in love. There is a lot of different emotions and that is a good writing skill to have. Thanks Mike for writing books. Keep writing! At the end of the story you think,Is Micheal brave enough? You dont know what he is going to do! AAHH!!

The Book I read Called “Heat”

Michael Arroyo is a 12-year-old boy with big dreams, especially for a

poor Cuban refugee. He dreams of pitching in the Little League World Series

and ultimately of playing in the major leagues like El Grande, his hero and fellow

Cuban immigrant.

Michael's fastballs can be clocked at over 80 miles per hour, so he's

definitely capable of throwing some heat. But sadly, Michael is also feeling the

heat in his difficult life. He lost his mother to cancer at a young age, and his

father died of a heart attack just a few months after coming to America with

Michael and his 17-year-old brother Carlos, leaving the boys to fend for

themselves.

The only two people outside of their family who know of Michael's

father's untimely demise are his best friend Manny Cabrera and his neighbor,

Mrs. Cora. If the authorities found out Michael's secret, he and his brother

might have to go into foster care or, even worse, be sent back to Cuba. Michael

tells anyone who asks about his father that he is in Florida caring for his sick

uncle. If this isn't enough to worry about, a coach from an opposing team signs a

petition to have Michael removed from his team until he can obtain his birth

certificate from Cuba.
