The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo

Have you ever had a special possession (like a stuffed animal or action figure) that you thought of as real? Maybe even a friend? If so, you will like this story about a china rabbit named Edward Tulane. Instead of being a friend to his loving owner, 10-year-old Abilene, Edward is selfish and cold-hearted. When Edward falls overboard during the family’s ocean voyage, he begins to learn about fear, love, and humility.
Family keepsakes like a china rabbit, coin collection or teapot sometimes get lost like Edward, are given away or sold at a garage sale or in the classified ads. Look through the Times' classified ads and find an object that you would like to have as a special friend. If that object could talk, what would it say to convince you to bring it home? Describe the object and tell us its story by clicking on the comment button below.

This Is my favorite book EVER! It's so cool! Even my mom likes it. Edward Tulane is a china rabbit whose owner Abilene loves him very much. But one day on a cruise for Abilene's birthday, Bam! Edward Tulane is gone. This book takes you from the net of a fisherman, a garbage dump. traveling with a hobo and his dog, the arms of a sickly little girl to the streets of Tennessee. It's especially good if you like adventure, love, and bunnies. This book is my friends favorite book too. It's the best book ever. I've already read it twice. And I'm going for a third! :-)

This is a great book. It is fun to read and also teaches some life lessons on not to be selfish. It has a lot of adventure. During one of his journeys he was being taken care of by a young boy named Bryce. Bryce took him into a diner, but then couldn’t pay the bill. The owner of the diner got angry and hit Edward against the counter and broke him…."Edward’s world went black!"
Each adventure in Edward’s journeys was a lesson in feelings and love. By the end of the story Edward had a change of heart, he no longer thought just about himself. He also learned to give and receive love. This book was truly a miraculous journey!

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is the best story. He was a toy who only cared about himself….until he went through many adventures. He got thrown overboard….and he started to miss Abilene. As he went through his journeys, he began to learn about love and caring. Two of our favorite adventures were when he went over board from the ship and when he got kicked off the train. We are looking forward to Mrs. Rouse reading the resting of the book to us.

This is the best Battle of the Book we have read. Our favorite journeys were Sara Ruth, Bull, and Abilene. Some of us can relate to Edward’s learning lessons. Edward has taught us to lover other people and not just ourselves. So love one another.

A lot of us think that this is the best book on the list. Edward was special because he was made of China. In the beginning of the story Edward was selfish, but he grew to care about others. He cared about Abilene and Sarah Ruth the most.

This was my favorite book. I loved the ending where Edward's old owner Abilene Tulane's daughter comes in the shop and likes the stuffed animal(Edward), the bunny, and takes him home. Abilene remembers Edward when she was a girl.

Why did edward swich to diffrent people every 2 chapters?
Posted by: G.B. | December 14, 2007 at 01:42 PM
Hi!
To answer your question, G.B., it's because of people moving him. I mean, if Edward hadn't been kicked off the train, he never would have found Bryce and Sarah Ruth. If it wasn't for Martin and Amos, Edward would never in million years have found Nellie and Lawrence. It's all part of the great adventure. If Edward hadn't switched people every two chapters, what would the book be called? "The Boring Life of Edward Tulane"?

I liked The Miraculous Journy of Edward Tulane because It was sad when she lost him overboard because she loved him alot.It was also really funny when the dog peed on the table cloth. It was scarey too because the daughter was really mean.My favorite part was when he found the girl when she had a daughter.
