Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings (Grades 6-8)
Brady’s neighbor, a toddler, dies as the result of a mean-spirited prank. No one was supposed to die, but what happens now? Throughout the book, Brady wrestles with his decision of what to do and his guilt. Taking responsibility for one’s actions can be challenging, especially when other people are involved. Look in today’s St. Petersburg Times for an article that focuses on someone taking or not taking responsibility for his or her actions. Red Kayak is a fantastic book. I especially like that the main charechters moral. He does what is right insteead of what he wanted to do. He also knows that if people are really your friends they have a good ethic moral.

I couln't stop reading this book it was fantastic. The "Red Kayak" has everything a good book should have. It has courage, twist, and other things that will want you having more. I think you should read this book. My favorite part was when Brady found the drill and the flash back triggered. So many questions will race through you.
