Police say man sodomized terrier

ST. PETERSBURG -- A 19-year-old Titusville man has been charged with animal cruelty after police said he sodomized his grandmother's Yorkshire terrier.

Nicholas R. Densmore, arrested on Monday, remained in custody on Wednesday at the Pinellas County Jail. He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

It was unknown what he used to sodomize the dog, which was found on Monday in the dumpster behind his grandparents' home in the 4200 block of Dartmouth Avenue North, a police report said.

The Yorkshire terrier, a female named Dutchess, was being treated for injuries at Parkview Animal Hospital in St. Petersburg and was expected to recover, said Densmore's grandmother Claudette Densmore.
