Man sought in Holiday shooting kills himself

HOLIDAY -- A man wanted in the shooting of another man Friday night turned the gun on himself and has died, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.

The dispute apparently centered over a woman, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said. The shooter waited for the couple to return home near Cemetery Road and Hickory Lane, just north of the Pinellas-Pasco county line, then shot the man about 9 p.m., Doll said. Preliminary reports indicated the victim was hit by one bullet that entered his arm and exited his chest. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Doll said.

The shooter fled, but sheriff's deputies tracked him down about an hour later near his home on Calvary Road. Preliminary reports indicated the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead about 10:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities would not release the identities of the shooter or the victim.
