Student accused of trying to poison teacher

NEW PORT RICHEY - A 15-year-old student has been arrested on a felony poisoning charge after putting Visine in a teacher's water, police said.

The incident occurred Sept. 26 at the Harry Schwettman Educational Center. It was not immediately clear if the unidentified teacher drank the tainted water.

Tampabay.com is not releasing the boy's name because of his age.

"During the interview,'' a police report said, "the defendant admitted to putting the substance in the water. He thought it would be funny if the victim got sick because he does not like the class or her.''
