Milton man led dog-fighting ring, authorities say

A Milton man has been arrested after a search of his property found remains of animals and 35 dogs, many that had wounds consistent with dog fighting, the Associated Press reports.

Raymond Eugene Teamer, 42, of Milton, used his 10-acre property to breed pit bulls for fighting in multiple states, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office. The remains of two dogs were found on the property, but officials were searching for more, Santa Rosa County Sgt. Scott Haines said.

''It's 10 acres of land. We don't know what all is out there,'' Haines said.

Officers also seized records, trophies and other items they say document Teamer's activities, which includes breeding, selling and fighting dogs.

Teamer was charged Monday with 35 felony counts of possession of fighting dogs. Additional charges may be filed. The dogs were transported to the Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter.

Sheriff officials began investigating Teamer seven months ago when they got a tip from the Flomaton, Ala., Police Department.

Teamer was being held in the Santa Rosa County jail Tuesday in lieu of $70,000 bail. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
