Prosecutors vigorously oppose Snipes' trial request
Federal prosecutors in Ocala, vigorously opposing Wesley Snipes' request for a new trial location, said the actor "hurls scurrilous and baseless accusations at the prosecution and citizenry of Ocala in an overwrought attempt to have this case dismissed or transferred to another venue,” the Ocala Star-Banner reports.
Snipes' attorneys have asked to have his federal tax trial moved to New York City, suggesting that he couldn't get a fair trial in Ocala because of racial discrimination.
"In his vituperation," wrote prosecutors, "defendant Snipes goes so far as to cast aspersions on this Court ... and the South in general."
