Tampa police investigate attempted club robbery

TAMPA -- Police are investigating an early-morning robbery and shooting at the CB Bar, 4200 N 42nd St.

Marquis I. Stewart, 27, was at the bar when three men entered with handguns and demanded money from him and and other victims, police said.

They said Stewart struck out at one of the robbers and wrestled him to the ground. During the fight, another robber shot Stewart in the left calf, and another unnamed victim grabbed his own gun and fired seven to nine times at the robbers, hitting one of them.

The three robbers sped away in a four-door Chevy.

Soon thereafter, Adrion D. Evans, 23, of 9411 Chalet Court, showed up at St. Joseph's Hospital saying he had been shot in the stomach. Evans was taken to surgery.

The investigation continues.
