Troopers investigate fatal accident on I-275

ST. PETERSBURG -- Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal accident that occurred about 3:30 this morning that killed a 54-year-old Largo woman.

The accident happened near the Gandy Boulevard exit of Interstate 275.

Troopers say the woman was driving southbound on I-275 when the 1990 Buick she was driving drifted onto the grassy right shoulder of the highway. The front left tire struck a concrete wall, causing the car to roll onto its right side and to land upside down in a water-filled ditch.

The woman, who lives on East Bay Drive, was wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
