Man dies in east Tampa shooting, suspects sought

TAMPA -- Police have identified the man killed in a Friday evening shooting outside an east Tampa home as Andre Coachman, 19, of 3201 E Caracas St.

Coachman was visiting a friend at 3220 E Caracas St. when a pickup truck approached and two people in the bed fired several rounds at him, hitting him in the head, then drove away westbound, said Tampa police Lt. Craig Sawicki.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. When police arrived the victim was lying in the yard. He died en route to Tampa General Hospital.

The suspects are described as ranging in age from 13 to 19, in a 1990s model Ford F-150 pickup with a silver bottom and tinted windows, Sawicki said.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, police officials said.
