Arrest made in killing of homeless man
TAMPA -- Police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with the death of Donald Ronald Kay, a homeless man found bleeding Monday night near a Columbus Plaza storefront at 5016 E 10th Ave.
Calvin Ford, 44, also listed as homeless in jail records, is charged with second degree murder, and is being held without bail in the Hillsborough County jail.
Emergency officials said they tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate Kay, and he was later pronounced dead.
The police Street Anti Crime unit apprehended Ford late Friday at North 22nd Street and Columbus Drive and brought him in for questioning by homicide detectives, after which he was charged.
