Double shooting in Tampa ends at TPD office

TAMPA -- A 20-year-old Tampa man died late Saturday after a bizarre double shooting that began on the city's east side and ended in front of police District 3 office, authorities said.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Tampa police received word that five to six shots were fired in the 1500 block of E. Emma Street, said Lt. Craig Sawicki. At the address, police found the man with two gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen, one to his upper left chest and one to his right calf, Sawicki said.

Nearby, at the Tampa police District 3 headquarters, 3808 N 22nd St., authorities found another male victim. He'd been shot in the chest. "One of the victims that was shot was transported by two to three individuals to our district office, where he was found around the front sidewalk area," Sawicki said. "I don’t know if the victim got out of car by himself or if they helped him out of the car. They did flee the scene."

Emergency officials transported both men to Tampa General Hospital, where the 20-year-old died. The other man, 29, was listed in stable condition, Sawicki said. The identities of the victims were not released late Saturday.

Police are still investigating, but could not offer a motive in the shooting.
