St. Petersburg in top 100 for young people
St. Petersburg has been named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People for the third time. The America's Promise Alliance and Capital One identifies cities and towns nationwide that have made the well-being of children and youth a top priority. Nearly 750 participants from more than 300 communities competed for the honor.
St. Petersburg was one of six Florida communities recognized, including Plantation, Greenacres, Coral Springs, Manatee County and Hillsborough County.
Every community that completed an application this year, regardless of whether they were named a winner, will be eligible to apply for $300,000 in grants from the Alliance beginning next month.

Go St Pete! Invest that money in kids! They are the future!

Great honor! Now if they can just build these young people some affordable housing downtown things would really take off. Stop building all these high rise condos that cost hundreds of thousands to buy...............and mostly will sit empty because of the housing slump.

Great! Now we need to make it a "Top 100 Community" for adults to live AND work. If not, after the children grow up here, they'll have to move out of Florida to enjoy adulthood!!
