Water pipe bursts, shuts down part of Bayshore

TAMPA -- A broken water pipe shut down a southbound lane of Bayshore Boulevard on Wednesday, forcing motorists to take a detour.

The lane was closed between W Bay to Bay Boulevard and W Julia Street. Eastbound traffic from Bay to Bay that was set to travel south on Bayshore was rerouted south at MacDill Avenue and east on Julia to Bayshore. Bay to Bay between MacDill and Bayshore remained open. Northbound traffic on Bayshore was unaffected.

Repairs are expected to be completed tonight, according to the Tampa Water Department. By Friday night, the road surface should be restored, the department said.
