2 hurt in overnight crash on Courtney Campell Parkway

TAMPA -- Two people were hospitalized this morning after a wreck on the Courtney Campbell Parkway, police said.

Thomas Conaty, 44, was headed east on the Courtney Campbell about 12:15 a.m. in a blue Subaru when he slammed into the back of a white Ford Focus driven by Joanne Salmon, 39. Police said in a statement that Conaty was driving about 60 mph when he smashed into Salmon's vehicle, which was either slowed or stopped.

Salmon was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she remains in fair condition. Conaty also was taken there. Police said his injuries are considerably less serious.
