Gulf High guidance counselor arrested for DUI

A guidance counselor from Gulf High School in New Port Richey was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence.

Angela Cotney, 29, of Clearwater was pulled over at 3 a.m. by a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy, for speeding and failing to stay in her lane. She was stopped on Curlew Road, just east of McMullen-Booth Road.

The Gulf High Web site lists Cotney as a guidance counselor with a master’s degree in education who came to the school in 2004. According to the Web site, Cotney is the daughter of Mark Cotney, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player and coach.

Cotney was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and released later Saturday morning.
