Baby found unconscious in New Tampa pool

TAMPA -- A 1-1/2 year old child was found unconscious in a New Tampa pool this evening by his mother.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to 19113 Mandarin Grove Place at 6:47 p.m., Capt. Bill Wade said.

The mother pulled the boy out of the pool and called 911. By the time paramedics arrived, the boy was crying and breathing on his own, Wade said.

The baby was being taken to University Community Hospital Fletcher by ambulance, Wade said.

Tampa police are investigating.
