I-275 to close nights at 54th Avenue N from Monday through April 3

Southbound lanes of Interstate 275 will close for consecutive nights under the 54th Avenue N overpass in St. Petersburg from Monday through April 3, the state Department of Transportation said today.

The interstate will close at 9 each night and reopen at 5 each morning. Traffic will be routed onto the ramp for a detour.

The repairs are necessary because of damage caused by a dump truck with its bed raised in the air that  hit the bridge several months ago, the DOT said.

Westbound and eastbound traffic on 54th Avenue will continue during the repairs. Police will direct traffic at the 54th Avenue N offramp to allow southbound I-275 traffic to cross the intersection.

Southbound traffic will be detoured to the 38th Avenue N ramp by way of 16th Street N.
