Lafave asks to cut house arrest short
TAMPA -- Debra Lafave is asking a judge to cut short her three years of community control.
The former Greco Middle School teacher pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old student and was sentenced in November 2005 to three years of house arrest and seven years of probation.
As part of the plea agreement, she is allowed to apply for the third year of community control to be converted to straight probation.
Lafave, 27, has completed almost 28 months of the house arrest to date.
Her attorney, John Fitzgibbons, filed a motion today seeking an end to the house arrest.
A judge is scheduled to hear her request on April 8.

"Your" means something entirely different than "you're", which is a contraction of "you are".
