Late-night crash on US 19 ejects teens from truck bed

Pinellas Park -- Three teens were involved in a single-car crash on U.S. 19 late last night. One was charged with careless driving.

At about 11:09 p.m. yesterday, officers and fire rescue personnel responded to reports of a crash at 8600 US 19. According to police reports, Jeffery Carl Keogh, 18, was driving his 2005 pickup northbound on US 19 when he crossed into the southbound lanes, striking a concrete culvert. The truck went airborne, ejecting Aaron Caleb Kizer and Sean Chandler Lonergan, both 18, from the truck bed.

Lonergan and Keogh were transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

Rescuers found the truck in a wooded area with Kizer underneath the vehicle. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital with burn injuries and was expected to recover.

Police said that the driver did not appear to be impaired, but he was charged with careless driving.
