Man, 34, dies after swimming accident

APOLLO BEACH -- A 34-year-old man died Monday after being pulled from Tampa Bay, Hillsborough County sheriff's officials said.

Deputies said Paul Gore was on a family outing and was swimming near Surfside Boulevard when something went wrong, causing Gore to lose control.

His wife, Laura, got him out of the water, and a witness performed CPR, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.

Gore was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. Hospital officials this morning said Gore died late Monday.
