An argument outside a downtown New Port Richey bar last night ended with one man dead.

At about 9:35 p.m. last night, as hundreds of revelers celebrated the Chasco Fiesta, New Port Richey police responded to a call of shots fired at Hot Shotz Bar and Grill. They arrived to find a man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported to North Bay Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Earlier that evening, police said, the man got in a fight with Max Wesley Horn Jr.. Their argument escalated and Horn pulled out a .45 caliber handgun, shooting the victim several times at close range. Horn then turned to walk away from the scene, but he was detained by witnesses and police.

Horn has been charged with first-degree murder.
