Pasco crossing guard struck by pickup

LAND O' LAKES -- A 71-year-old Sunlake High School crossing guard was struck by a pickup truck at 7:20 a.m this morning, Pasco County Sheriff's officials said.

The guard, David Fillhart, was struck in the back by a full size Dodge pickup truck while directing traffic outside the school, 3023 Sunlake Blvd.

Sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said is a statement the driver of the truck told deputies his window had fogged over as he dropped his daughter off at the school.

Fillhart suffered was transported to University Community Hospital in Tampa for treatment of several broken bones, authorities said.
