Police arrest suspect in theft of SUV with baby aboard

B1e8b68c2e894deab1d4dd70a6cb981a ST. PETERSBURG -- Police said today they arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of an SUV with a baby inside.

Desmond Deion Fuller, 22, (left) was arrested just after 1 p.m. today in the 600 block of 23rd Avenue S.

On Wednesday, police released surveillance footage of the theft. Police said Anita Marie Williams, 41, left her sleeping baby in the SUV and walked up to a pickup window at Salem's Gyros, 1735 34th St. S about 2:35 p.m. Saturday.

The video shows the suspect walk through the parking lot, glance at Williams, and double back on the sidewalk.

The suspect dropped off the 7-month-old at a house in Roser Park. The SUV was recovered the next day.

Police say Fuller was charged with unarmed carjacking in the theft of the SUV this week. He was also charged with three counts of strong-arm robbery, three cases of auto theft and violation of probation on cocaine charges.

Police say he admitted his involvement in the cases, which all happened this month.
