Shooting prompts investigation, hunt for suspect

ST. PETERSBURG -- Police were investigating a shooting late Saturday night. The male victim was taken to Bayfront Medical Center shortly after 10 p.m.

Neighbors near the scene, 24th Avenue S and Eighth Street, said they heard one gunshot. St. Petersburg police Sgt. David Gatlin said the victim was shot in the upper body.

Police were searching for a suspect who may have fled in a white Cadillac.
