Tarpon Springs man charged with attempted murder

TARPON SPRINGS - Tarpon Springs police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting at a home at 608 North Avenue on Saturday night.

Witnesses told police someone had fired several shots into the residence before fleeing in an unidentified vehicle.

On Sunday, police arrested David James Spencer, 21, of Tarpon Springs, and charged him with attempted murder in connection to the incident.

Police said Spencer was the passenger in a vehicle that followed an unidentified man to the residence. When the man parked in the driveway and got out of his car, Spencer exited the vehicle he was in and began shooting at the man, firing several rounds from an assault rifle, according to a statement released by Tarpon Springs police. Police did not offer a motive for the shooting.

Spencer, who was also charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, was taken to the Pinellas County Jail.

Police said they are still searching for the driver of the vehicle.
