Deputies investigating fatal Ruskin crash

TAMPA -- Deputies are investigating a fatal crash Monday night that killed a 19-year-old Ruskin man and injured his brother.

The crash happened at 7:45 p.m., when Daniel Strunk, of 307 5th Ave. NW, was headed north on Fourth Street NW in a Ford F150 pickup. Strunk lost control of the truck and drove into a ditch near 11th Avenue NW, deputies say.

The truck flipped, partially ejecting Daniel Strunk, deputies say. His brother, Matthew Strunk, 16, was riding in the passenger seat, and he ran to their home a few blocks away to get their father.

The father performed CPR on Daniel Strunk, who was then taken to South Bay Hospital by ambulance, deputies say. Daniel Strunk was then flown to Tampa General Hospital, where he died at 4:30 a.m. this morning.
