Double shooting investigated in north Pinellas, Pasco

TARPON SPRINGS -- Police said two men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds this morning, but the investigation into who pulled the trigger continues.

Stymied by a lack of cooperation by shooting victims James Hudson, 31, and Ozell Jones, 23, investigators say leads are scarce.

"If the victims aren't coming forward with information, this investigation may not go very far," said Pasco sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin.

Here's what authorities know:

Neighbors on the 1800 block of Kepner Drive in Holiday called deputies to report the sound of about 5 to 6 gunshots followed by screeching tires around 2 a.m. Tobin said the neighborhood is "an area known for drug activity."

Shortly after, a woman called police to report Hudson and James were standing in her driveway at 312 E Boyer Street in Tarpon Springs, about four miles south of the "shots fired" call in Holiday. Both were bleeding.

Investigators found a white Jeep with bullet holes and broken glass parked a few hundred yard away, said Sgt. Robert Faugno with Tarpon Springs Police Department.

Faugno said authorities believe the pair were shot in Holiday then drove about four miles south to Tarpon Springs, where both men reside. Anderson had been shot in the right forearm; Jones was shot once in the back of the neck.

Both victims were airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.
