FHP identifies crash victim

TAMPA -- The Florida Highway Patrol has identified an 83-year-old man killed in a crash today on Interstate 75 near the Bruce B. Downs Boulevard exit.

Harland W. Davis, who lived on Lake Sunrise Drive in Apollo Beach, died after his pickup truck spun into the center median and smashed into a guardrail twice, authorities said.

The truck continued back onto the interstate, traveling across both lanes before coming to rest in an emergency lane.

According to a Highway Patrol news release, the road was wet and DAvis was not wearing a seat belt.
