Hazmat crews respond to incident near Tyrone Square Mall

ST. PETERSBURG - Police and fire units responded this morning to the Life Sciences chemical research center at 2900 72nd Street N after a maintenance worker reported hearing a shelf of chemicals collapse.

Lt. Rick Feinberg of St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue said the chemicals, which were primarily salts and solvents, mostly dissipated on their own, and the maintenance worker was checked for any respiratory issues. There were no injuries.
