Hit-and-run accident sends woman to hospital

TAMPA -- Police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run accident that sent a Miramar woman to the hospital in critical condition.

At about 3:20 a.m. today, the vehicle Maria Cuff was in was headed east on E Adamo Drive, approaching N 39th Street. The five occupants were in an argument, and the driver pulled the car over onto the shoulder of E Adamo Drive and N 34th Street, the Tampa Police Department reported.

The five occupants began walking across Adamo Drive, and Cuff didn't see a car approaching, police said. The car hit her at about 60 mph, police reported. The driver left the scene, continuing east on Adamo Drive.

Cuff, 38 of Miramar, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.

Police are looking for a black Lincoln Town Car with tinted windows, possibly a 2000-2005 model.
