Human rights council meets with sheriff over Hillsborough jail abuse

Ahmed Bedier, president of the Tampa/Hillsborough Human Rights Council, met with Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee today over concerns about possible jail abuse incidents. In December 2006, Gee was awarded the Hank Warren Human Rights Award by the Council. But now members are concerned about recent incidents at the jail. "We had some concerns and some of our members asked us to meet with him," Bedier said. He said they offered the sheriff suggestions on how to better deal with people from various backgrounds.
