Largo doctor illegally touched patients, police say

Sotonwa LARGO — A doctor was arrested Thursday on charges that he illegally touched patients, according to police and jail records.

Kayode E. Sotonwa, 42, (left) was charged with felony sexual battery without force on a victim over 12 years old. He also faces three charges of misdemeanor battery.

Largo Police spokesman Mike Loux declined to comment on the case but confirmed that the victims were patients. He said the department is still investigating the possibility that there are other victims.
Sotonwa’s office is located at 2700 East Bay Drive, Suite 101, in Largo.

Sotonwa, of 1716 Belleair Road in Clearwater, is a licensed physician of internal medicine in Florida, according to the Florida Department of Health Web site. His profile says he has staff privileges at Mease Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital and is affiliated with the USF College of Medicine.

The sexual battery charge is a second-degree felony that can be punished with up to 15 years in jail. Records show bail was set at $21,500. He was released Friday.
