Third victim in mobile home fire dies

Mariano William Pita, the last member of a Lutz family still clinging to life after a fire in their mobile home killed a 4-year-old boy and his mother, died Friday, according to University Community Hospital.

Pita, 44, his son Gabriel, 4, and the boy's mother, Crystal Dooley, 37, all died from injuries sustained in the fire Wednesday in their home at Sunrise Mobile Home Park.

Friday afternoon, Hillsborough fire investigators said the fire started in the kitchen from a pot on the stove. They found no evidence the mobile home had any smoke alarms. The back door had been secured shut with screws at the time of the fire because Gabriel had damaged it.
