One dead after car hits tree

TAMPA -- Tampa police are investigating a serious traffic crash at N 19th and E Jean St. after a car apparently hit a tree.

The accident happened around 1:40 p.m., according to TPD spokeswoman Andrea Davis. One person was ejected, and one was killed.

Antoine Bolden, 24, of 3512 N 22nd Street, a passenger in the car, was killed. Weldon Buie, 25, of Tampa, was in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital, police said.

Weldon was driving a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass west on Hanna, and accelerated as he turned north onto 19th Street, losing control of the car and hitting a tree, police said.
