St. Petersburg pharmacy robbed of OxyContin

ST. PETERSBURG -- A man robbed a CVS pharmacy at gunpoint just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

St. Petersburg police said a white man wore a black bandanna to cover his face and used a small handgun during the robbery at 5400 Fourth St. N. The man left the store with an undisclosed amount of the prescription painkiller OxyContin, police said.

In a rare move earlier this month, Walgreen's pulled the same drug from some Pinellas County stores after a boost in the number of similar store robberies in which attackers rob pharmacists and demand prescription painkillers.

Police were looking for the man, who fled the scene in an orange or red Ford F150 pickup truck with a toolbox in the back.
