Man walks away from train crash, his car totalled

PLANT CITY -- A 37-year-old man totaled his car but kept his life after colliding with a train Wednesday afternoon.

Jorge Cancino-Sanchez, of 4809 Bruton Road, was looking for a parts warehouse along Highway 92 when he missed his turn and ended up driving across railroad tracks near Wiggins Road, a Hillsborough sheriff's spokeswoman said.

As his 1999 Ford Taurus crossed the tracks, a train traveling at 50 mph slammed into the right rear side of the car, spinning Sanchez's car around.

When the train came to a stop, the Sanchez got out of his car and walked around with only minor injuries. His Taurus was totaled. But Sanchez was not even taken to a hospital.

The train, which had two engines and 15 empty rail cars, received an estimated $500 in damage.
