Garage apartment damaged in early morning fire
St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue units responded about 6:15 a.m. to find flames shooting through the roof of the structure at 1253 57th Ave. N. Inside, firefighters found an efficiency apartment built in the two-car detached garage. The structure sustained about $35,000 in damage. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was electrical, St. Petersburg Fire Lt. Joel Granata said.
