Holiday man arrested on charges of beating boy with belt

HOLIDAY -- Authorities say Bryan Yukall Reed gave an 8-year-old boy a choice Sunday: get grounded again or get spanked. The boy was tired of being grounded, so he chose the spanking, according to a Pasco Sheriff’s Office report.

Reed Reed (left) allegedly hit the boy 10 times with a leather belt on his back and legs, leaving a large amount of bruising on the boy’s right leg, the report said. The boy told deputies he was in pain and he asked Reed to stop.

Authorities would not identify the boy because of the nature of the charges, nor would they say who reported the incident.

Reed, 35, of 2015 Melody Drive, was arrested Tuesday on one count of child abuse. He later admitted to beating the boy but said he only intended to hit his buttocks, the report said. He was released this morning on $5,000 bail.
