Man lying on Tampa road hit, killed

TAMPA -- A man was killed after being struck by a car early today, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported.

Just after 4 a.m., Brett Johnson Bailey, 19, of Tampa, was laying in the southbound lanes of Sheldon Road, north of Waters Avenue, when he was struck by a 2002 Acura Integra, driven by Stephanie Marisol Maisonet, 26, of Tampa, the Sheriff's Office reported. Bailey died at the scene.

Maisonet told deputies she didn't see Bailey on the road until it was too late. She was not cited or charged.

Witnesses told deputies that Bailey had been drinking alcohol at a party prior to the incident.
