Deputies: Argument over TV remote lands woman in jail

TAMPA -- Paula Geneva Echols wasn't joking when she said she wanted the remote control, authorities say.

Echols According to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter, Echols, left, punched a 17-year-old boy during a tug-of-war over the clicker. Then she lifted a Louisville Slugger baseball bat over him, demanding that the remote control be returned, Carter said.

Echols, 27, is charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse, and is being held in Orient Road Jail without bail.

The incident happened after midnight Monday at her residence, 1109 E 124th Ave., Apt. A.
