Man faces charges of robbing bank, stabbing chiropractor in Carrollwood
CARROLLWOOD -- Deputies have arrested a 43-year-old Tampa man they say robbed a bank and stabbed a chiropractor this morning.
At 7:54 a.m., employees opening the Mercantile Bank at 10821 N Dale Mabry Highway found Kenneth Robinson (left) inside the bank, according to Hillsborough County sheriff's officials.
Robinson apparently broke out a plate glass window behind a wall and got inside sometime overnight. Officials said he confronted employees wearing a ski mask, gloves and hooded sweatshirt, demanded money and ran away with an undisclosed amount of money and a dye pack.
Three minutes later, Robinson ran into chiropractor Scott Hegseth's office at 11015 N Dale Mabry Highway and demanded the keys to a patient's Lexus. Hegseth came out of his office, confronted Robinson and was stabbed in the arm and back. He suffered injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital.
Robinson fled in the patient's Lexus, ditched the car near Fletcher Avenue and Dale Mabry Highway after the dye pack exploded inside the vehicle, authorities said. A sheriff's helicopter and a tracking dog named Ruby followed him to his home at 3315 Nundy Ave., where he was arrested. A sheriff's spokesman said Robinson is expected to face multiple charges.
